We like to go on mini-getaways! They’re the best. You leave Saturday morning, and drive back Sunday afternoon. It’s a great way to distract yourself and just go away for a couple of days.
Our favorite part is the Hotel! We get a hotel with an indoor pool, and enjoy it without the sun or without worrying whether it’s going to be too cold or raining, etc. Our girls love it!
These trips do so much good. They’re so much fun and you don’t have to ask for days off at work since it’s the WEEKEND!
I have to constantly remind my husband that we’re NOT just working everyday to pay the bills, we’re working to be able to enjoy our life with our kids.
Okay, enough about all of that…Now to the good stuff!
THE ULTIMATE PACKING LIST
KIDS CLOTHES
I like to start off with my kids clothes. We have 3 girls & I have to make sure I have enough clothes for all 3 and EXTRAS for all 3 as well! I don’t normally even use the extras, but I like to have them just in case. So, I’ll have one outfit for them to wear Saturday morning (that outfit won’t go in the suit case). They will put that outfit on as soon as they wake up. And, I put the rest in the suitcase, which includes…swimsuits for the hotel, pajamas for bedtime, and another outfit for Sunday (which is all listed below).
- 3 Undies for each kid
- 1 pair of Swimwear for each kid
- 3 Different outfits for each kid (& Bows for girls)
- 1 pair of pajamas for each kid
- 1 pair of shoes for each kid
- 2 pair of Socks (if necessary)
CLOTHES FOR HUBBY & ME
- 3 Undergarment (including undies & bras)
- 1 pair of Swimwear for each
- 3 Different Outfits for each
- 1 Pair of Pajamas for each
- Pair of shoes that go with each outfit
- Socks (if necessary)
MAKE UP BAG
I like to keep my make-up simple for the weekend. It is a family weekend getaway after all. I tend to do my usual everyday make-up routine
If you would like to take a look at my Everyday Make-Up Routine, click here!
- Foundation
- Concealer
- Setting Powder
- Contour/ Blush/ Highlight Palette
- Eye Shadow Palette
- Mascara
- Eyebrow Powder
- Setting Spray
TOILETRIES
Toiletries for me are the last thing I pack, normally because I still use most of the products in the morning. As I finish using the product, I place it in its bag.
- Shampoo (Yours & Kids)
- Body Wash (We normally use the same, less items)
- Loofah
- Toothbrushes
- Toothpaste
- Q-Tips
- Body Lotion
- Hairbrush
- Hair Ties
- Hair Products
- Moose
- Hairspray
- Hair Gel
- Straightener
- Curling Wand
- Jewelry – I normally place my jewelry in a cute little big then place that bag in my Make-Up bag.
- Perfume/ Cologne – Same as jewelry.
Like I mentioned above, we normally plan these getaways to relax and SWIM. We always get a hotel with an indoor pool. So another one of our necessities are FLOATIES for kids. Or whatever your child uses…could be floaties, goggles, arm floaties, etc.
P.S. We normally get the hotels at a discounted rate by using Hotels.com. We love them! They work really well with you and they’re customer service department is really good too! What I love about them the most is that you get a free night after you book through them 10 nights!

I live in SoCal where there are lots of destinations just an hour or two away. Love the overnight trip. My last overnight trip, I woke up bitten by bed bugs – eek! So now I make sure to pack only clothing that is machine washable because you need to throw stuff in the wash immediately if your luggage might have been contaminated. Amazing how 1 bad experience changes your perspective.

This is a nice simple list for a weekend trip. I always overpack, lol! I like to be extra prepared.

I know exactly what you mean! I feel the same way sometimes. That’s why lists are good! Lol.
